What to know about tailoring & stitching
Bring the shoes you will wear
Trouser and dress hems depend entirely on heel height. Trying the garment on with the right shoes is the difference between a hem that hangs correctly and one that has to be redone.
What can and cannot be let out
A garment can only be widened by the seam allowance the maker left inside. Taking in is nearly always possible; letting out depends on how much fabric is folded into the seam.
Repairs before they grow
A split seam, a loose button shank or a zip that has started skipping is a quick job now and a much bigger one after another few wears.
Clean first, then alter
Some fabrics move slightly after their first proper clean, so on a garment that has never been cleaned it is worth doing that before the final fitting.

How much does an alteration cost?
Most stitching and alteration work is AED 5 to 15. Larger jobs are quoted once we have seen the garment.
Do I need to come to the shop?
