Carpet Cleaning in a Dubai Apartment: What Works

Vacuum your carpet twice a week, blot spills immediately without rubbing, and deep clean every six to twelve months. In Dubai apartments, fine desert dust sinks to the carpet backing where vacuuming cannot reach it, and home deep-cleaning machines often leave the carpet too wet — in the humidity that means a musty smell within days.

The Dubai dust problem

Apartment carpets in Dubai collect a specific kind of dirt: very fine desert dust that comes in on shoes, through balcony doors and via the AC. Vacuuming lifts the surface layer, but the heavier grit sinks to the base of the pile, where it acts like sandpaper underfoot and wears the carpet flat in walking lanes long before the fibres themselves fail.

That is why a carpet can look acceptable and still be due for a deep clean — the damage is happening at the base, not on the surface.

A weekly routine that actually helps

Vacuum twice a week, slowly, in two directions. Fast passes lift almost nothing from a dense pile. Once a month, sprinkle baking soda, leave it for thirty minutes and vacuum again — this absorbs odours from cooking and humidity without any chemicals.

If you have a balcony, beating a small rug outside once a month removes more embedded dust than any vacuum. Check your building's rules first; some do not allow it.

Spill first aid

The rule is blot, never rub. Rubbing pushes the spill deeper and spreads it. Press a clean white cloth or paper towel onto the spill, working from the outside in, and keep replacing it until no more transfers. For tea, coffee and juice, a little cold water with a drop of dish soap on the cloth handles most fresh stains.

Two things to avoid: heat (no hairdryer, no hot water — it sets the stain) and coloured cloths (the dye can transfer onto a light carpet).

Home deep cleaning — and its limits

Rental wet-cleaning machines can refresh a carpet, but in an apartment they come with a real risk: they leave a lot of water in the pile, and without strong airflow the carpet dries slowly. In Dubai's humid months a slowly drying carpet smells musty within days and can even develop mould at the backing. If you do use one, run the AC and fans, open windows if the air is dry, and plan for a full day of drying.

Wall-to-wall carpets glued or stretched over underlay should not be wet-cleaned at home at all — the moisture has nowhere to go.

What a professional clean involves

With our carpet cleaning, the carpet goes to our workshop in Jebel Ali Industrial Area 1, where it is deep cleaned and — just as important — dried fully before it comes back. The price is AED 29 per square metre; we measure the carpet at pickup and confirm the total before cleaning starts.

If the carpet is due for a proper clean, we collect it, deep clean it at our Jebel Ali workshop and bring it back fully dry — AED 29 per square metre, measured at pickup. Pickup and delivery is free for orders from AED 50, and the standard turnaround is 24 hours. Send us a photo on WhatsApp and we will confirm everything before we start.

Frequently asked questions

How often should I deep clean a carpet in Dubai?

Every six to twelve months for a normal household, more often with pets, children or a home near construction. Vacuum twice a week in between.

Does baking soda really remove carpet odour?

It absorbs mild odours from cooking and humidity. Sprinkle it, leave thirty minutes, then vacuum. Deep or pet odours need proper treatment.

Why does my carpet smell musty after I cleaned it myself?

It dried too slowly. Water left deep in the pile in humid air develops a musty smell within days. Use the AC and fans and allow a full day of drying.

How do I handle a pet accident on the carpet?

Blot immediately, then treat with an enzymatic cleaner so the odour is broken down rather than masked. Tell whoever cleans the carpet where it happened so the spot is treated directly.
